Dual Diagnosis Program
This program is a recovery-based approach for treating clients with dual-disorders, such as substance dependency and psychiatric illness.  Strategies in this modality are to educate client on the many similarities of addiction and mental health issues, in order to develop practical solutions towards maintaining a healthy balanced lifestyle in recovery from dual disorders.

Anger Management
This is a 16-week program designed to help individuals who have problems handling anger.  The Anger Management Program provides weekly group sessions as well as bi-weekly individual counseling sessions.  It is designed to teach acceptable expressions of anger and to eliminate violent and self-destructive behavior.

Detention Center Services
(410) 651-5613

The Somerset County Detention Center Behavioral Health Program provides addictions and mental health counseling to the incarcerated population.

Mental health services include; dual diagnosis assessments upon incarceration to determine if an inmate has a mental health and/or addictions diagnosis. Data is collected on all inmates for statistical purposes.   Those who are identified as having an addictions diagnosis are referred to one of the addictions groups and those who are identified as having mental health problems are seen, as needed, by the mental health counselor and/or psychiatrist for medication management.   Individual counseling and anger management counseling are offered on an as needed basis.   Crisis intervention is provided to inmates during normal working hours, and the inmates are referred to the emergency room during evening and weekend hours.   Some case management and assistance with transitioning into the community is provided to mental health and/or addictions clients.

Jail Substance Abuse Program (JSAP):   This program provides individual and group addictions counseling to the pre-sentenced inmates.   Groups meet three times weekly for 1 ½ hours and run for 9 weeks.   This program also offers counseling to the female and work release populations in the evenings.   An aftercare group is also available for those who have completed any of the established groups in the detention center.
