Adolescent Addiction Services
Early Intervention treatment is provided to adolescents and their families to increase insight and awareness regarding substance use and motivate them to change. Treatment consisists of 5 to 7 weekly sessions and includes one family session.
Outpatient treatment for adolescents provides a broad based cognitive and experiential approach to recovery through four phases of growth - accepting responsibility, deciding to make changes, making important changes and preventing relapse. The program is typically delivered through 12 group sessions and 6 individual sessions, with family sessions when possible.
Adult Services
Early Intervention is offered for the first time DUI offenders without a dependence diagnosis or previous treatment. This program is delivered in 6 sessions lasting 2 hours for 6 consecutive weeks. Attendance is required at each session and weekly monitored urines must test negative for all substances. The curriculum combines interactive journaling with motivational therapy to produce rapid, internally motivated change.
Outpatient treatment is typically delivered through 26 group sessions and 13 individual sessions. The program utilizes the biopsychosocial approach and provides basic education regarding addiction terminology, the substances of abuse, triggers and relapse prevention and various emotional components of addiction and recovery.
Intensive Outpatient treatment is the highest level of care offered by the Somerset County Health Department. This is a step down program, requiring clients to initially attend 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. The program incorporates early recovery skills, relapse prevention skills, family education and social support development as the foundation of the program.
